He has secured millions of dollars in successful grants from local, regional and national corporate and private foundations and has an enviable track record of having brought millions of dollars of Federal funding to Dallas non-profits since 2001 through several very large Federal grants he developed.
Bob’s professional background includes his service from 1998-2004 as Executive Director of Turtle Creek Manor, a non-profit organization serving indigent adults with co-occurring mental and substance use disorders. During the 1990s he was President and CEO of American CareSource, a start-up managed health care company, and President and Founder of LifePath Resources, a network of behavioral healthcare providers. Bob was Director of the Department of Clinical Social Work at Timberlawn Psychiatric Hospital from 1972-1992. In 1986 he was appointed to the position of Civilian Consultant in Social Work to the Surgeon General of the U.S. Air Force and served the Surgeon General in this capacity four years. He has served as a consultant to Duke University Department of Child Psychiatry, the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine Health Science Center, and other organizations and institutions.
Through the years Bob has been active in community organizations. He has served in volunteer leadership positions and on advisory councils for a variety of community organizations. He has been active in local, state and national professional activities. Bob was elected President of the National Association of Social Workers and also served as President of NASW at both State and local levels. He was also elected Treasurer of the International Association of Social Workers.
Bob has served on two professional journal editorial boards. He was an Educational Program Leader for Professional Seminar Consultants, Inc., leading trips to China, Kenya, and the then Soviet Union. He has made hundreds of speeches, delivered six university graduation addresses, and has published several articles.
